More than 600 distributors and manufacturers joined MHEDA for the 64th Annual MHEDA Convention in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, for four days of networking, education and inspiration. This year's Convention theme was "Setting the Stage for What's Next" and featured speakers and education designed to show where the business climate and our industry is heading.

The keynote speaker for the event was Commander Mike Abrashoff, a Naval Commander who was able to turn around one of the worst performing ships in the U.S. Navy into the number one ship with the same crew in one year. His book, "It's Your Ship" demonstrates practical and inspirational ways that you can apply the same messages in your business. Other highlights of the event included presentations by Brian Beaulieu from ITR Economics, who discussed where the economy is heading in both the short- and long-term. Ryan Avery hosted a General Session on how to recruit and retain the next generation of leaders, Gene Marks gave two presentations, one on strategies for reducing your corporate and individual tax expenses and another on the latest technologies, trends, services and tools every business needs to know.

Be sure to join MHEDA for next year's Convention and Exhibitor Showcase, May 2-6, 2020, in Orlando, Florida at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Hotel.

Avoid Lost Time if Something Falls
Imagine this scenario in your warehouse: an employee is walking alongside an active walkway behind a large pallet rack filled with inventory. Then someone from the maintenance area accidentally pushes inventory through the pallet rack and causes an injury. This is something that can easily and affordably be prevented with WireCrafters RackBack® safety panels.

When recruiting new members, we spend a lot of time answering the question, “What is the value proposition of MHEDA?”  With the vast array of services offered, that value proposition means different things to different people.  But in reality, the most valuable proposition of MHEDA is something very personal.  Let me explain.

Sales Success Story

Arden, North Carolina-based Arcadia Dairy Farms began as a small dairy business in 1939 with 30 cows and 70 acres. Through the years, Arcadia has grown substantially and even branched beyond the dairy business into the juice and non-carbonated beverage industry. As the business has grown, its packaging and shipping requirements have grown along with it. In 2004, Arcadia began working with Scott Hovis and his team at Advanced Equipment Company to help automate processes in the now 200,000 sq. ft. facility. The aim of this initial project was to transition away from the use of forklifts to transport cartons more efficiently.
