On December 20, 2018, a plane registered to Sunshine Enterprise Inc. CEO Wei Chen crashed in the Atlanta area. Wei, John Chen, Bruce Pelynio, Heli Americas CEO and Danielle Mitchell, Controller, were all on board and did not survive the crash. Please keep the families and employees of Sunshine and Heli in your thoughts and prayers. MHEDA extends its deepest condolences to the friends and families of the victims.
MHEDA extends its condolences to the friends and family of Emil Graeser, who passed away on December 22, 2018. He was 88. Emil was the former chairman and CEO of Bohnert Equipment Company. Emil served as the MHEDA President in 1980.

Mike Vaughan, Liftech Equipment Companies, is the 2019 Chairman of the Board, with Mike Wall, CSI Materials Handling, serving as Chairman-Elect, Ted Springer, Springer Equipment, serving as Treasurer and Tom Albero, Alliance Material Handling, serving as Vice President. Doug Carson, Fallsway Equipment Company, is the Immediate Past Chairman. MHEDA would also like to thank Mark Milovich, Mark Nelson and Milt Tandy for their years of service on the MHEDA Board.

I’ll let you in on a secret. When MHEDA first contemplated starting a Women in Industry initiative, I was against it. A number of years ago, an association colleague (male) contacted me to ask my opinion about whether or not I would join a “Women’s” industry group and I immediately said no. I told him I would not want to be singled out for being female and wanted to be perceived on equal footing, as a businessperson like any of my male counterparts and not considered “different” because of my gender.
A.T. Emery, North Louisiana Sales Manager at Nelson Equipment Company, had been calling on Mid South Extrusion as a customer for nearly three years without any luck. When the plastics distributor needed a panel replaced on their 20-year-old modular building, Emery finally got his shot.
