The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that overall industry orders (bookings) for the first 6 months of 2017 increased 9.09% compared to the same period in 2016, with total orders of $6.23 billion. CEMA estimates industry billed sales (shipments) for the first 6 months of 2017 increased 12.88% compared to the same period in 2016, with total shipments of $7.19 billion.

As Hurricane Irma was heading toward Florida, Jamco was coordinating equipment with the Red Cross to provide Aid for the victims of the terrible hurricane. Container Systems, Inc. announced the expansion of its Midwestern Sales Team with the addition of Steve Murchek. Murchek brings six years of sales and customer experience to the role. His in-depth background includes everything from sales management to training and safety inspections. Steve's energy and commitment to helping CSI customers meet their material handling needs makes him a perfect addition to the dedicated sales force.

In August, KION North America participated in Charleston Regional Youth Apprentice Signing Day. With their families present, a total of 59 students gathered at Trident Technical College to sign their employment letters to become apprentices with Charleston-area employers. Joe Grant—a rising junior, has since completed his first month as an apprentice with the Summerville-based forklift manufacturer.

CombiLift will debut its new 500,000 sq. ft. facility on April 26, 2018. As part of the event, CombiLift will also be celebrating its 20th Anniversary.
