At the July Executive Committee Meeting of the MHEDA Board of Directors, the decision was made to rebrand MHEDA’s Critical Impact Factors to “Material Handling Business Trends.” After all, these are emerging trends that will affect the way all of us do business in 2018 and going forward, and the name should adequately reflect that. Many of the trends are specific to our industry but others are trends that transcend business and are reshaping the entire world.
Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is the second largest distributor of wine and spirits in the U.S. The company outgrew their current distribution center and built a new 242,500 square foot warehouse in the town of Ashland, Virginia. RNDC distributes over 3 million cases per year of wine. This facility processes more bottles relative to the other 18 states where the company is located, nearly double the amount of full cases. They wanted to add more automation to the DC in order to meet the requirements of their growing customer and supplier base and accommodate long term growth.
Advanced Equipment Company’s pillars of business will continue, even under new leadership
By Steve Guglielmo
Advanced Equipment Company (Charlotte, NC) is preparing for a major transition on January 1, 2018. That is the day that President Daryle Ogburn will officially retire from the company where he has worked for the last 39 years. Darin Boik, an account manager at AEC, will take over as President on that day. Like everything that AEC does, this was not a move made in haste. It was well thought out and strategically planned. There was a two year transition plan put in place to ensure that things continued to operate smoothly and that Darin and Brad Pearson, who was hired to take over Darin’s territory, were adequately prepared for their new roles.
