MHEDA hosted its first ever Canadian Regional Networking Summit on October 19 at Concept Storage Solutions in Vaughan, Ontario. The event included a workshop on social media ROI, a thought-provoking member panel presentation on MHEDA's 2018 "Critical Impact Factors" and how they will impact Canadian material handling businesses, and roundtable discussions. The event also had an optional guided tour of Concept Storage Solutions and a MHEDA Gives Back Event where MHEDA collected Matchbox Cars, Books and monetary donations to donate to the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Every year in the 1st Quarter Issue of The MHEDA Journal we run Economic Forecasts based on information provided to us by MHEDA Distributors and Suppliers. MHEDA is pleased to announce the hiring of Katie Richards, Business Development Representative effective November 1, 2017. Richards graduated Cum Laude from Bradley University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and concentration in Professional Sales. After graduation, Richards was employed by Yelp in Scottsdale and Chicago and in addition to her sales responsibilities at Yelp, qualified and participated in a Leadership Development Program. While a student at Bradley, Richards worked for Signature Marketing as a promoter and was an intern in the material handling industry working for Associated (MHEDA member) located in Addison, IL and as a Research Intern for MHI, MHEDA and the Material Handling Education Foundation.

Lean practices are a priority at the Ossur facility in New Jersey, where employees assemble and distribute approximately 800 packages of cervical collars a day. Cervical collars have become one of Ossur’s most successful product lines.
