The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its May 2017 Booked Orders decreased 10.8% when compared to May 2016 orders. May 2017 booked orders when compared to April 2017 booked orders were up 8.5%.
May Booked Orders were up 6.7% for Bulk Handling Equipment and up 8.9% for Unit Handling Equipment when compared to April.
CEMA’s May 2017 Billed Sales (shipments) increased by 26.8% when compared to May 2016 sales. May 2017 billed sales when compared to April 2017 billed sales were up 11.9%.
May Billed Sales were up 9.4% for Bulk Handling Equipment and up 12.9% for Unit Handling Equipment when compared to April.

Several MHEDA staff members recently toured the Daifuku Innovation Center in Bolingbrook, IL. Hosts Gordon Hellberg and Troy Carter demonstrated several Daifuku and Wynright products within the Innovation Center. The Center is the location for Daifuku’s Advanced Technologies Institute which provides training sessions for their integrator partners.
Fairchild Equipment announced on Monday, July 10, 2017 that it acquired the assets and Hyster forklift dealership rights of Arnold Machinery locations in Minnesota. The company will continue operating from its current locations in Burnsville and Ham Lake, MN with the addition of two locations from the acquisition in Eagan and Grand Rapids, MN. Along with acquiring the assets and dealership rights to the Hyster brand, Fairchild Equipment also absorbed 33 employees who will transition into the company from Arnold.
In response to continued sales increases, Ohio Gratings, Inc., has named Shaun Eller as the new chief operating officer (COO). The move is designed to keep the company focused on growth around the customer and its commitment to “make it right and ship when promised.”

The Booth Reservation Process will begin on September 12. Members who are interested in reserving a booth for the 2018 Exhibitor Showcase in Miami Beach will have to complete an online booth request form and send to MHEDA. The final booth selection process will take place on September 13 when a MHEDA staff member will call each company in the order they were received to confirm a booth loocation.
