Allied ToyotaLift (Knoxville, TN) donated two forklifts to the Rotary Club of Pigeon Forge for response to the Tennessee wildfires, which weather.com have called the worst fires in Tennessee in 100 years. The donation came in response to an ad in Material Handling Wholesaler. MHEDA thanks both Allied ToyotaLift and Material Handling Wholesaler for their generosity during this time of need.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, Southern Methodist University acknowledged the Top 100 fastest-growing privately held companies in Dallas at a dinner at the Omni Hotel. Over 1,000 people were in attendance. The Dallas 100 award winners are chosen solely on increased growth in sales, giving weight to the percentage of growth and absolute dollar growth. Southern Dock Products, a branch of DuraServ Corporation, received the SMU 100 Glass Trophy Award. The companies honored have made significant contributions by generating jobs, increasing the tax base and fostering North Texas' reputation as a premier economic development center. MHEDA Member Southern Dock Products placed number 22!

The very first issue of The MHEDA Journal that I ever got to work on was the 1st Quarter 2010 issue. I was hired in September 2010 and my boss at the time (coincidentally, Chris Powers who has moved on from the magazine but still helps each year write the Supplier Forecast) felt that the best way for me to learn the industry was by making as many forecast calls as possible and just talking to members.

The United States Army Special Forces Base at Fort Carson, Colorado, was facing an ergonomic and space efficiency problem in its parachute rigging and repair facility. The facility had limited floor space to fold its extremely large parachutes and also required storage capacity for packed parachutes. In addition to the facility’s layout concerns, there were ergonomic concerns for the soldiers that inspected and folded the parachutes.

We often think of Google search as an almost perfectly working, black box-type system. You put in a search query, and more often than not Google spits out what you’re looking for as the top result. We also tend to think of Google search working the same everywhere: on an Android phone, a laptop, and even iPhone. However, those in the online industry know that Google search is a constantly evolving process and it functions differently in different contexts.
