During the 2016 MHEDA Convention in National Harbor, MD, MHEDA hosted its first annual "MHEDA Gives Back" event designed to benefit needy veterans and families in the Washington DC area. MHEDA members came together to pack 1504 care kits for the American Red Cross. The event was so successful that at MHEDA's Midwest Regional Networking Summit, hosted by AK Material Handling Systems, there will be another "Gives Back" event that is optional for attendees. Intella Liftparts recently undertook a unique fund raising promotion supporting the Folds of Honor foundation. The Folds of Honor foundation,founded by Major Dan Rooney, provides scholarships to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to America. Intella Liftparts will donate $5 for every forklift seat and $20 for every pair of forklift forks sold in the two weeks prior to Memorial Day, 2016.

I’ve written in this space before that the 3rd Quarter Issue of The MHEDA Journal is among the most challenging but also most rewarding issues to put together. While the 1st Quarter Issue is dominated by forecast information for the upcoming year, the 2nd Quarter is devoted to Convention and the 4th Quarter is made up of mostly Sales Success Stories, the 3rd Quarter issue has a lot more space and freedom to tackle multiple different areas of the industry at the same time.

Early 2016 has not only been a microcosm of the last several years but it's also a pretty good indicator of what we can expect throughout the rest of this year.
