It may be a dubious way to run a railroad ... or the Federal government ... but each year as Christmas approaches, Congress again confronts "must-pass" bills that must be enacted to keep the government open for business and/or to retroactively enact tax provisions that expired at the end of the previous year. These final legislative items are often referred to as Christmas Trees because, as the "last trains leaving the station," they become magnets for legislative amendments – the "ornaments" that legislators work mightily to hang on to those trees.

This year marks Barry Bowman’s 30th year with Flight Systems Industrial Products (FSIP). Barry joined the Flight Systems Inc. team in 1985 as an electronics draftsman and then grew into the role of Drafting Manager. Barry also spent time as a Customer Service Representative and then moved into the operations side of the business as the Production Manager of a specialized line for the company. After a run as the Plant Manager, Barry became the Industrial Products Manager, where he was overseeing the Industrial Products Division.

TVH in the Americas (TVH), headquarters in Olathe, KS hosted a giving tree during the first three weeks in December for children and adults living at Lakemary, a local non-profit whose mission is to help children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Several Christmas trees throughout the facility were decorated with ornaments containing the names of the residents, their ages and their Christmas wish lists. Getting into the spirit of the holiday, TVH employees purchased over 100 gifts for the 35 men, women and children who were on the giving tree. In addition, they also donated money and a variety of items on Lakemary’s general wish list including puzzles, games, and books.

Dematic completed its acquisition of Reddwerks Corporation. The acquired company is a leading innovator of Warehouse Execution Software (WES) that provides customers with real-time decision engines to optimize material and information flow in the supply chain. Reddwerks will operate as a subsidiary of Dematic under the tradename Dematic Reddwerks, offering an enhanced software suite that provides responsive order fulfillment to Dematic and Dematic Reddwerks customers.

After launching the Charter4Charity initiative at the Kubota Annual Dealer Meeting in Atlanta this October, Charter Software generated $1719 for the Farmer Veteran Coalition! Charter4Charity rolled onward and raised $624 at the Mahindra National Dealer Meeting in Kansas City for the EDF Disaster Relief Fund, an EDA (formerly known as NAEDA) endorsed charity that helps employees of dealerships that have suffered from a natural disaster.

Hyster Company received a 2015 Product of the Year Award from Energy Manager Today in the materials handling category. The award was earned for the company’s PSI industrial lift truck engines featuring Hyster Variable Power Technology. Award recipients were determined based on an appointed panel of expert judges working in the energy management field who are dedicated to improving energy strategies across a wide range of industries.
